The Sumatran Tiger is Critically Endangered according to the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) and is found on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. All Tiger species in the world are considered Endangered, the Sumatran Tiger being the most at risk, with an estimated population of merely 400 remaining in the wild.
The Sumatran Tiger is the smallest of the tiger species, weighing up to 310 lbs. Populations are continuing to decline, primarily due to habitat loss and poaching. Over the last century, tiger populations have declined 96%, falling from 100,000 to 4,000 by the early 2000’s. Research has shown that tigers could become extinct within the next decade.
Help prevent the Sumatran Tiger from becoming ghosts of our past by spreading awareness about their declining populations and donating to organizations invested in preserving their habitats. For every purchase of the No Ghost Tigers Tee, 10% of profit will be donated to the Rainforest Trust, where they are actively protecting the habitats of Earth’s endangered species, including the Sumatran Tiger.
